Obama Compares Rap Artists To Imus

FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is questioning the way some rappers talk about women in their songs.

The Illinois senator says the lyrics are similar to the derogatory language used by radio host Don Imus.

During an appearance in South Carolina, Obama said such rappers are "degrading their sisters."

Earlier this week, Obama criticized Imus, who was fired Thursday for labeling the Rutgers women's basketball team -- quote -- "nappy-headed hoes."

Imus has since apologized for that remark.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Obama said while he's a free speech advocate, "Just because you can say something doesn't mean you should say something."
