Parma Man Killed On City's West Side

Cleveland, OH - Officials are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on the city's West side Saturday morning.

Early Saturday morning, around 4:15a.m., police responded to 2211 West 38th Street for aggravated robbery and felonious assault.

37-year-old Gregory Fitz, of Parma, was traveling North bound on West 38th Street with three others inside his vehicle. Several males, one with a handgun, stopped the vehicle outside of 2211 West 38th Street and demanded cash. Fitz only had ten dollars on him and words were then exchanged between the suspect and Fitz.

Fitz, the driver of the vehicle, excelerated quickly and then was shot by one of the suspects. The bullet struck Fitz in the torso.

The victim drove a short distance until one of the passengers jumped into the driver's seat and drove Fitz to MetroHealth Medical Center. The victim expired from his injury at Metro around 6:20a.m.

The investigation is ongoing and no suspects have been arrested in connection to the incident.

The shooting is now being investigated as a dead body, suspected homicide.
