Wauseon Mayor Says Fire Was Devastating But Town Will Rebound

WAUSEON, Ohio (AP) - The mayor of Wauseon says his community will rebound from a fire that wiped out several downtown buildings Saturday.

Fire that may have started in a restaurant spread to several other buildings and burned most of a downtown block in the heart of Wauseon, about 30 miles west of Toledo.

Mayor Jerry Dehnbostel says most of the buildings that were destroyed were more than 100 years old. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

The mayor says that along with the restaurant, the fire destroyed four other buildings that housed several businesses, including a clothing store and photo studio.

There's been no damage estimate, but replacing those buildings could cost millions of dollars. The state fire marshal's office is investigating.Wauseon mayor says fire was devastating but town will rebound
