Coroner: Miami Student Killed by Train was Drunk

OXFORD, Ohio (AP) - Investigators say a Miami University student was legally drunk when she was struck and killed by a freight train last weekend.

Oxford police say 19-year-old Beth Speidel visited an off-campus apartment and at least two bars before she died early Saturday.

Sergeant Jim Squance says the sophomore -- from the Cleveland suburb of Strongsville -- became separated from her friends and was killed while walking away from campus about a mile from her dorm. He says investigators haven't determined where she was going.

Police want to determine where Speidel consumed alcohol in an attempt to bring charges against whomever supplied it.
