Wooster Mayor Loses Battle with Cancer

WOOSTER, Ohio (AP) - Three-term Mayor James Howey has died of cancer at the Cleveland Clinic.

Howey, who died Tuesday, was 62.

Howey, first elected in 1995, was re-elected twice and was considering a run for state representative next year.

Howey grew up in Wooster and after service in the Air Force began working for the city in 1971. He was appointed head of Woosters maintenance department in 1978.

A memorial service is planned Friday in Wooster.
