Fuel Spilled When Construction Crane Collapses

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio - Cleanup efforts have started in Independence after a construction crane collapses into a pond, spilling fuel everywhere, 19/43 News reported.

The crane didn't make it across a small gravel bridge on an access road. The big piece of machinery got too close to the edge.

The gravel gave way, and the crane toppled into the small pond.

The operator was thrown into the icy water, but he wasn't seriously injured.

The crane dumped approximately 50 gallons of hydraulic fluid, approximately 40 gallons of diesel fuel and nearly five quarts of oil into the water.
