Indians Win Fifth Straight with 9 to 4 Victory over Rangers

CLEVELAND (AP) - Sammy Sosa homered twice, but Paul Byrd and the Cleveland Indians beat the Texas Rangers nine-to-four today for their fifth straight win.

Sosa led off the sixth inning with a home run, making Jacobs Field the 44th major league ballpark in which he has homered.

That broke a tie with Ken Griffey Junior and Fred McGriff for the most in a big league career.

Sosa hit his sixth home run of the season in the eighth inning to reach 594 career homers.

Byrd allowed three runs and eight hits, walked one and struck out three.

Cleveland extended its lead in the sixth on an R-B-I single by Grady Sizemore and bases-loaded walks by Casey Blake and Travis Hafner. Jhonny Peralta hit his third homer in the seventh to make it nine-to-three.
