Services Set For 4 Students Who Died In Crash

CANTON, Ohio (AP) - Services are set for later this week for four high school students who died Friday in a single-car accident on a rural road near Canton.

Killed in the crash were 17-year-olds Nicole Cernik of Canton, Anthony Painter of Waynesburg and Dustin Sanford of Canton, and 15-year-old Ashley Lonca of Canton.

All four teen-agers are described as good kids who were involved in their respective churches and active in school sports, music programs and other extracurricular activities.

A white cross now stands at the crash site. A makeshift memorial there grows by the hour with flowers, notes and teddy bears.

The State Highway Patrol says that Cernik went through a stop sign, hit a dip in the intersection and went airborne. Investigators still have not determined how fast the car was traveling.
