AKRON, Ohio (AP) - The deputy superintendent of schools in Akron is retiring, but first he has to take his vacation days -- 213 of them.
Bill Spratt has racked up 288 vacation days in his 38 years in the district.
The 59-year-old Spratt said that he'd been hoping to cash in all of his vacation days, worth approximately $120,000, but he no longer is able to do that. A law passed last year caps vacation payouts at 75 days for school employees.
Spratt said that he never took long vacations, but that he did take days off here and there.
