LTV Sale Falls Through; Time Has Apparently Run Out

WARREN, Ohio - It appears that the sale of LTV Steel's coke plant in Warren is not going to happen.

The latest deal to bring in a new buyer and save 200 jobs has fallen through. Now, time has run out.

The coke plant will be put on cold idle, and it will likely be too expensive to ever fire up the furnaces again.

Saving the Warren coke plant was crucial to the future of LTV's mill on the east side of Cleveland because coke is needed to make steel.

In an effort to save the struggling steel producer, volunteers have been working the phones to try to get the word out that LTV needs the government's help to stay in business.
