Firefighters Rescue Trapped 5-Year-Old, Father

CLEVELAND – Cleveland firefighters worked through heavy smoke in a fully engulfed home on the city's east side to save the lives of a 5-yaer-old boy and his father, 19/43 News' Dawn Kendrick reported.

NewsHawk19 was high above the scene as firefighters tore through the house to get to the two people trapped inside.

The fire broke out at a home on Stockbridge Avenue near the Shaker Heights border late Monday afternoon.

Cleveland firefighters got the call just after 3:30 p.m. Despite all of the smoke, 19/43 News received word that firefighters managed to find the 5-year-old and his father, and pulled them both out of the burning house in an amazing rescue.

Both the boy and his father were transported by Life Flight to MetroHealth Medical Center, where they were listed in critical condition.
