Ohio State Pulls Out of Running For '08 Presidential Debate

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio State University has pulled out of the running to host a presidential debate in 2008.

Curt Steiner is a vice president at the school. He says officials are concerned about raising the nearly four (m) million dollars in private donations it would take to put on the event.

Ohio State was among 19 applicants. The University of Cincinnati remains in the running.

The nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates plans to announce in October sites for three tentatively scheduled presidential debates and one debate between vice presidential candidates.
