"Operation Buckeye" Successful After Large Gun Raid

Alliance, OH - Eight people are under arrest and facing federal charges for selling guns to criminals in New York City.

Back in 2006, the New York City Police Department began finding firearms at various crime or narcotic scenes within their city that were traced bact to sales through alliance area firearms dealers.

In October of 2006, federal officials and local police started "Operation Buckeye".

Over the past eight months, investigators have traced back at least 53 guns purchased by Alliance residents and then transported to New York City.

Tuesday morning, an early morning raid was conducted in Alliance and eight people were arrested.

They are all now in federal custody.

The ringleader is identified as 34-year-old Aaron Callock, he is charged with conspiracy to traffic in firearms, trafficking in firearms and transfer of firearms to out of state.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
