Northwest Ohio Soldier Killed In Iraq

OAK HARBOR, Ohio (AP) - A soldier from northwest Ohio was killed in Iraq when his vehicle was hit by an explosive device.

The aunt of Army Sergeant Keith Kline says he died Thursday morning after his convoy was struck by a roadside bomb.

Paulette Lipstraw says Kline enlisted after he graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 2002 because he wanted to serve his country and protect people.

Kline served his initial three-year stint in the Army, then the 24-year-old signed up for another five-year term.

Kline was a member of the 82nd Airborne based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was on his first deployment to Iraq, and had served overseas in Kuwait and Africa.

Funeral arrangements are not yet finalized.
