Warrants Issued For Suspected Shooters

Cleveland, OH -  Mayor Frank G. Jackson and Chief of Police Michael McGrath announced Sunday that arrest warrants were issued for Darnelle Hudson and Deshaun Martin in connection with the felonious assault shootings of 1 and 6 year old children Saturday near E.173 St. and Tarkington Ave.

"Violence of this kind will not be tolerated.  Children should be able to play in their neighborhoods and parents should not have to live in fear of their children getting caught in the crossfire," said Mayor Jackson. "I commend the Division of Police for their swift work in identifying those believed to be responsible."

"Like Mayor Jackson and members of our community, I am outraged by this cowardly act of violence," said Chief McGrath.  "The Division of Police will follow every lead and work around the clock until the people responsible for these shootings are behind bars."

Detectives assigned to the Fourth District Detective Bureau identified Martin and Hudson as those responsible for the 7 p.m. shootings which left 6-year-old Netrajune Fisher with a gunshot wound to the arm and 1-year-old Darrell Blake, III confined at Metro Hospital in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with a gunshot wound to the left thigh.  A third male, 18-year-old Philroy Johnson of Cleveland, was arrested this morning after he was identified as the male driving the auto used following the shootings.

Both Martin and Hudson are known to frequent Cleveland's southeast side and each resides near where the shootings occurred.  Both males should be considered armed and dangerous.  Anyone with information on either Martin or Hudson's whereabouts is asked to contact the Fourth District Detective Bureau at 216.623.5418.
