NASCAR Offers High-Visibility For Goodyear Tires

AKRON, Ohio (AP) - Akron looks to be the king of racing tires for several years to come.

NASCAR's Nextel, Busch and Craftsman Trucks series have renewed their contract for Goodyear racing tires for another five years.

Each of the 43 race teams lease up to 14 sets of four tires for use on any race day.

Goodyear's Akron Technical Center pulls in about 62 (m) million dollars a year making 150,000 or more NASCAR radial tires.

Tire-builder Joe Nutter and his colleagues work 68 hours a week. It takes about nine months to learn how to build a tire.
