Politician Resigns over Strippers at Golf Outing

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - The leader of Lucas County's Democratic Party is resigning amid uproar over a golf outing in which strippers acted as hostesses and passed out drinks.

John Irish told state party officials he'll step down, but it's unclear when he'll leave his post.

That's according to Chris Redfern, Ohio's Democratic Party Chairman.

Redfern says Irish also plans to ask Lucas County Democratic Party Executive Director Domenic Montalto to resign.

Redfern and Irish met today in Fremont to discuss the fallout from a June 29 fund-raiser. One participant claimed that one of the strippers bared her breasts at the event.

Irish claimed he didn't know the women were strippers and previously had resisted mounting calls for his resignation.
