Peace Walker To Stop In Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) - A California man plans a stop today in northeast Ohio as he walks cross-country to encourage peace in the Middle East.

Fifty-seven-year-old Bill McDannell left his Lakeside, California, home on November Fourth to start his trek to Washington D-C. He's carrying a petition asking for an immediate end to wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and he plans to present it to the president, Senate and Congress.

He'll be in Youngstown today and hopes to add more than four-thousand signatures to his petition while there.

The Air Force veteran and his wife Jonna sold their home and other belongings to go on the road. she drives a camper that serves as a support vehicle, and they spend nights in R-V parks or the driveways of hospitable strangers.

They expect to arrive in Washington by mid-August.
