EPA-Approved Computers Help Save Energy

WASHINGTON (AP) - The move to "green" computer technology is paying off in terms of energy savings.

The Green Electronics Council says the purchase of more than 36 (m) million computer desktops, laptops and monitors equipped with energy-efficient technology saved enough electricity last year to power more than a (m) million U-S homes.

The environmental group's report estimates the equipment purchased from Dell, Apple and other companies reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to removing 852-thousand cars from the road for a year.
