Cuyahoga Elections Officials Looking For Poll Workers at Festivals

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio (AP) - Officials from the Cuyahoga (keye-uh-HOH'-guh) County's Board of Elections are recruiting poll workers at local festivals.

Board official Denise Ferguson says the board stepped up its outreach a couple of years ago with appearances at more community events.

Usually it's to help voters with registration.

But Willette Scullark -- another board representative -- says interest in working the polls on Election Day is high these days, especially since the board is offering workers up to 250 dollars for a day's work.

The heavily Democratic County has more than one million voters -- the most in a state that tipped the 2004 election in President Bush's favor.
