STREETSBORO, Ohio (AP) - Police in Greensboro, N.C., said that they won't file charges in the case of a 6-year-old girl (pictured, right) who was missing from that state for five years before she was found in northeast Ohio last week.
Sgt. George Holder said that it would be a big stretch to find a law that was broken in Greensboro.
The girl's mother, Nikki Jones, has said that the girl's father took her to Alabama in 1997 to stay for a while with him and his mother. He was supposed to bring his daughter back, but never did.
She was found Saturday at her grandmother's apartment in Streetsboro.
Holder said Jones told police that she willingly gave her daughter to the father and grandmother, and there were no concrete plans for her return.
He said that other jurisdictions could file charges.
