Northeast Ohio Teens Survive Being Stranded at St. Louis Arch

CLEVELAND, OH - Six teenagers from northeast Ohio were among those stuck inside the Gateway Arch in St. Louis over the weekend.

About 200 tourists were stranded for about three hours Saturday night when a power failure halted the trams that take visitors to the top of the 630-foot-high landmark

The teenagers from Willoughby Hills Friends Church were part of a week-long mission to a Missouri camp for disadvantaged youth.

One teenager, Luke Taylor, says it became pitch black on top of the arch after the power went out.

The wife of the church's pastor says family and friends were planning to welcome the teens home last night with T-shirts that read, "I survived being trapped in the tram."

Willoughby Hills is about 18 miles from Cleveland.
