New Sales Tax Effective October 1st

Cleveland, OH - The newly raised sales tax approved by Cuyahoga Commissioners will go into effect on October 1st.

The vote to raise the sales tax by a quarter of a penny comes in the wake of proposals to bring a convention center and medical mart to the city.

The tax will bring the total sales tax to 7.75%

Residents have 30-days from the time it was voted upon - which was July 27th - to collect 45,000 signatures to get the issue on the March ballot.

If citizens are successful, the tax will be put on hold until March.
