Motorcycle Leads Troopers In High Speed Chase

Ashland, OH - Troopers from the Ashland Post of the Highway Patrol became involved in a high speed chase with a motorcycle Saturday afternoon.

The Troopers were working with a Highway Patrol Aircraft checking for speeders on Interstate 71 just north of US 250 when three motorcycles were checked traveling at 117 mph at 2:30 p.m.

Troopers attempted to pull the riders over but they fled.

A high speed chase ensued with the suspect fleeing at speeds estimated between 140- 150 mph. The suspect, Everett L. Davis age 28, fled southbound on I-71 with Ohio State Patrol's airplane following. The plane provided speed and location for ground patrol units.

The suspect then exited at US 30 and later onto US 42 in the city of Mansfield where he then entered the parking lot of a Save-A-Lot and was apprehended without incident.

The motorcycle being driven was a Suziki GSXR Motorcycle. Charges of Felony Fleeing and eluding along with misdemeanor charges of speed of 117 mpn in a 65 mph zone., driving under a suspended license, driving without a motorcycle endorsement, and possession of marijuana will be presented to the Ashland County Prosecutor's Office.

The suspect is being held in the Ashland County Jail.
