Sun Microsystems to Reduce Workforce

NEW YORK (AP) - Sun Microsystems plans to cut its work force as part of a new restructuring plan.

However, in a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the server and software maker does not detail the job cuts.

Sun says the restructuring will result in total charges of about 100 to 150 million dollars over the next several quarters -- due largely to cash severance costs.

The company approved the restructuring initiatives last week.
