Raw Sewage Contaminates Beach

Cleveland, OH - Swimmers might want to find a different place to cool off over the next few days.

People are being asked to avoid contact with the water at Edgewater Park because yesterday's torrential rain caused the release of raw sewage.

Heath officials were notified that an unknown amount of sewage seeped into Lake Erie from the Westerly sewage treatment plant as well as other places across the city and nearby suburbs.

Warnings have been posted along the shoreline.

Swimming at Edgewater Beach will be discouraged for about two days along with other beaches in Cleveland, Villa Angela and Euclid Creek.
