Local Man Charged In Apartment Break-In, Slaying

AKRON, Ohio (AP) - A man has been charged with aggravated murder and aggravated robbery in the apartment break-in and shooting death of a woman who managed to dial 911 before she died.

Police charged David Matthew Hutzler, 26, of Akron, on Tuesday in the death of Danielle C. Maximovich, 24, whose body was found riddled with bullets in her Akron apartment April 5, 2000.

Hutzler, who also was charged with aggravated burglary, was held in the Summit County Jail, awaiting arraignment set for Wednesday in Municipal Court.

Police alleged that Hutzler entered Maximovich's upstairs apartment before dawn, sprayed her body with gunfire and took drugs and cash.

The victim managed to call 911 but was able to say little and died before police and paramedics arrived about three minutes later.

Police said physical evidence, forensic analysis and multiple interviews led to the arrest.
