Teacher Involved In Confederate Flag Flap Sues School District

CLEVELAND (AP) - A history teacher removed from a Cleveland high school for hanging a Confederate flag in her classroom has filed a discrimination lawsuit against the school district.

Rebecca Segetti was reassigned to a middle school from John Hay High School last fall. She's accusing the Cleveland Municipal Schools of discriminating against her because she's white.

District spokesman Dan Minnich has declined comment, saying school officials haven't yet seen the lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Akron.

A black custodian removed the flag from Segetti's room in August. School officials let her put it back up during lessons on the Civil War.

Segetti has said that displaying Confederate and American flags is a free speech issue.
