Handgun Stolen from Elvis Exhibit Found in Portable Toilet

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Police say a handgun that was stolen from Graceland during last week's commemoration of Elvis Presley's death has been found -- in a portable toilet.

The gun was turned over to police yesterday by a man who says he was cleaning the toilets behind the exhibit hall last Thursday when he found the gun -- unaware the weapon had been stolen.

Police say the man cleaned the weapon and called police after the theft was reported on the news.

Surveillance video captured the theft on August 14th, showing a man reaching into a display case and removing the black 9-millimeter Smith and Wesson.

Police say the thief, who has not been caught, may have accidentally dropped the gun into the toilet afterward.
