LORAIN, OH - Eyebrows are raised after a father who beat his 8-year-old son with a belt was aquitted in a Lorain County Common Pleas Court.

Judge James Burge aquitted James P. Smith of domestic violence and child endangering last week after Police and Lorian County Child Services turned him in for the welts and whip like marks across the child's back.

The community is questioning that there is a difference between a swap on the behind and putting welt marks on your child and whether this should have been considered child abuse.
