Cleveland Man Stabbed During Protest

CLEVELAND (AP) - A man was stabbed two nights ago in Cleveland during a protest against a curfew banning homeless people from sleeping outside in a downtown park area.

Homeless advocates say the stabbing illustrates why the protest was needed. But proponents of the overnight sleeping ban in Public Square say the stabbing shows how unruly the area can become.

The curfew banning people from camping out in Public Square went into effect last week but hasn't been rigorously enforced so far.

The stabbing victim is recovering. The attacker fled the scene and homeless advocates said the curfew wouldn't have prevented the stabbing.
