East Side Standoff Ends Peacefully

Cleveland, OH - A stand-off on the city's East side ends peacefully after police use the help of a lawyer and a neighborhoodd activist to talk things out.

Police were called to the home at East 114th and Union around 9:30 a.m. for a custody dispute.

The dad was supposed to turn over the kids to the mom but refused the locked himself and the kids inside.

The Cleveland SWAT team was called out.

Two hours later, Dad surrendered himself and turned over the kids.

Councilman Zach Reed was on the scene and said this is exactly what they had talked about in our 19 Action News Town Hall meeting Tuesday evening. Use non-traditional methods to keep the streets safe.

Charges are pending against the dad.
