CLEVELAND (AP) - A capacity crowd of 20,562 was in attendance on Wednesday night at Gund Arena when Sports Illustrated cover boy LeBron James (pictured, right) went on display in the boys high school regional tournament semifinals.
It was the largest crowd to ever witness a high school game in Ohio.
James, a 6-foot-7 forward at Akron's St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated three weeks ago with the headline, "The Chosen One."
The Cleveland Cavaliers have sold out just three of their 33 games in their home arena.
Lakewood St. Edward met Cleveland St. Ignatius in a Division I semifinal at 6:15, with James and St. Vincent-St. Mary meeting Warrensville Heights in a Division II semifinal at 8 p.m.
Warrensville Heights athletic director Phil Stevens said he got to his office at 5 a.m. Monday, an hour before tickets were to go on sale.
"There was a line that stretched around the school building," he said. "They had pillows and blankets. They camped out overnight."
