Man Wanted In Attack On Wife Arrested On Jaywalking Charge

CANTON, Ohio (AP) - A man wanted in the attack on his wife nearly four months ago was arrested near Columbus on a jaywalking charge.

Whitehall police arrested Desmond A. Rorie, 31, of Canton, on Sunday and learned he was wanted on a felonious assault warrant and earlier warrants for domestic violence and drunken driving.

Rorie appeared Tuesday in Canton Municipal Court, where Judge Stephen Belden ordered him held on $100,000 bond to await a March 28 hearing.

Canton police said Rorie trapped his wife, Tina, in their home for more than two hours on Nov. 30 and kicked, bit and punched her.

She suffered broken ribs and a collapsed lung, police said.
