Northeast Ohio Native Wins National College Basketball Award

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Cincinnati point guard Steve Logan has won the Basketball Hall of Fame award honoring the top men's collegiate player 6-feet tall and under.

Logan is the 34th winner of the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award, named in honor of basketball inventor James Naismith's daughter-in-law.

The 6-foot Logan, who is a native of Cleveland, scored a total of 1,985 points during his four years at Cincinnati, second in school history to Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson.

He was named the Conference USA Player of the Year for the second straight season and was a finalist for the Naismith, John Wooden and Oscar Robertson national Player of the Year awards.

Logan averaged 22 points a game for the 31-4 Bearcats this season, scoring a career-high 41 points against Southern Mississippi.
