Indians Swap Minor League Outfielders With Rangers

CLEVELAND (AP) - The Cleveland Indians acquired outfielder Chris Magruder from the Texas Rangers for outfielder Rashad Eldridge on Thursday.

Magruder was optioned to Triple A-Buffalo.

Magruder, 24, split most of last season between Double A-Shreveport and Triple A-Fresno. He was promoted to the Rangers on Sept. 4 and hit .172 in 17 games with Texas.

Eldridge was the Indians' fifth round pick in the 2000 draft and hit .258 in 61 games last year with Cleveland's rookie affiliate in Burlington, N.C.

The Indians also traded right-handed pitcher Jeff D'Amico to Philadelphia for a player to be named.
