CANTON, Ohio (AP) - Graco Childrens Products will close its Century assembly plant in Perry Township by the end of the year.
The plant's 430 employees were told Monday about the closing, and the business -- a division of Rubbermaid Group, of Wooster, Ohio -- announced the move on Tuesday.
When Rubbermaid paid $77 million for Century in 1999, the plant -- which assembles children's car seats -- employed approximately 250 people. A plant official said that even though employment has grown, the facility and the equipment are out of date.
