School Officials Find Written Threat Against 27 Students, Teacher

BEACHWOOD, Ohio - A written, anonymous threat against 27 students and one teacher was found Thursday morning at Beachwood Middle School, 19/43 News' Denise Strzelczyk reported.

District officials said that the threat was immediately turned over to the Beachwood Police Department for investigation.

They also said that parents of the students who were threatened were notified by telephone, and a letter explaining the situation was sent home to the parents of every student in the district.

"We are taking this matter very seriously," Beachwood School District superintendent Paul Williams said. "There is no notification at this time to indicate that this is a credible threat. However, we have heightened security in all of our buildings. Beachwood police officers, private security and Central Office administrators will remain in the Middle School building until further notice.

"The Beachwood Police Department is actively investigating this matter. Our first priority is the safety and well-being of our students."
