AKRON, Ohio (AP) - The Ohio Ballet's year-old plan to partner frequently with the Dayton Ballet has been put on hold.
When the Dayton Ballet's 2002-03 season announcement came out last week, the Akron-based Ohio Ballet wasn't part of it.
Ohio Ballet's executive director, Connie Hawk, told the Akron Beacon Journal in a written statement that the project "was not as financially successful as anticipated."
During the 2001-02 season, the two companies combined their dancers in productions of "Peter Pan" and "Hamlet."
Last February, when the company announced its upcoming season, Ohio Ballet's artistic director, Jeffrey Hughes, said he hoped the two companies would continue to collaborate in 2002-03.
Dermot Burke, artistic and executive director of the Dayton Ballet, said in an Ohio Ballet press release that the companies "would consider collaborating in the future."
