CLEVELAND (AP) - An ex-convict whose telephone call to his latest rape victim was traced by caller ID has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Dennis Russ, 39, of Cleveland, was sentenced Monday on his guilty pleas to rape, kidnapping and felonious assault in the attack on a 40-year-old Brunswick woman as she walked along Interstate 77 in Cleveland on Oct. 6.
Russ was released from prison Sept. 6 on parole from rape, felonious assault and aggravated burglary convictions in 1984.
After raping his latest victim, he took her phone number and later called her several times. Police tracked his number by caller ID and a phone trace.
Russ was arrested two weeks after the latest attack. The victim couldn't identify her attacker but physical evidence linked Russ to the crime, prosecutors said.
