Man Charged With Shooting 2 Girls At Campground

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio (AP) - Authorities in four eastern Ohio counties were on the lookout Tuesday for a man who allegedly shot two 11-year-old girls at a campground. They ultimately found, arrested and charged a 19-year-old Canton man.

Authorities said that the girls were staying with a friend and her family at the campground. The friend's brother, Mike Morris, allegedly got in a fight with his mother, then went outside and shot the girls, who were on the deck.

Guernsey County Sheriff Mike McCaulley said that Morris was arrested at approximately 10:15 a.m. Tuesday and is being held in the Guernsey County Jail. He was charged with two counts of attempted murder.

One of the victims, Rebecca Lewis, was upgraded to serious condition at Akron Children's Hospital after spending the entire morning in critical condition. Crystal McCalla, meanwhile, was listed in fair condition.

Both girls, who are from the Canton area, were originally brought to a Cambridge hospital and then were moved to Akron.

McCaulley said that the girls were shot at the Bucket Hill Campground, between Cambridge and Newcomerstown.
