Government Starting To Hire Federal Security Screeners For Hopkins Airport

CLEVELAND - The Transportation Security Administration announced late last week that it would be hiring federal security screeners for Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and 26 other airports across the country. Now, they are giving northeast Ohio residents the opportunity to apply for a job, Action News reported.

Cleveland residents interested in a position can apply one of three ways: online, by phone or at a Job Application Center.

Transportation security screeners may receive salary in a range from $23,600 to $35,400 depending on experience, plus locality pay. Additionally, security screeners receive federal benefits that include health insurance, life insurance, retirement, paid vacation and sick leave.

Full-time and part-time positions are available.

All candidates must, however, be a U.S. citizen and have a high school degree, a GED or equivalent or one year of security or aviation screening experience.

TSA's local Job Application Center, located in Independence, Ohio, at 6450 Rockside Woods Boulevard, Suite 190, will be open on Wednesday July 3 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The center will provide computers with Internet access as well as assistance with the initial application process for those who attend.

Interested applicants can also apply online at or by calling (877) 631-JOBS. Candidates needing special assistance because of a disability should go to the Job Application Center or call (888) 328-6172.
