PETA Suggests Punishment For Boy Accused Of Killing Kitten

AKRON, Ohio (AP) - The animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has sent a list of sentencing recommendations to the Summit County prosecutor in the case of a teen-ager accused of killing a kitten.

The suggestions include a psychological evaluation, counseling, detention and requiring the boy to stay away from animals.

A PETA spokesman said that it's important to treat an animal cruelty case involving a juvenile seriously because that behavior often escalates.

He said that every serial killer started off abusing animals.

Police said that the 14-year-old Akron boy confessed to attaching fireworks to the neck of a 6-month-old kitten, blowing off the kitten's head. The boy is facing a juvenile delinquency count of animal cruelty.
