LeBron's Mentor Could Be Headed To Jail For Going To Basketball Camp

AKRON, Ohio - The father figure to Akron high school basketball star LeBron James could be headed to jail for traveling to a basketball camp with James, Action News reported.

Back in June, prosecutors charged Eddie Jackson Jr. with 35 counts of engaging in corrupt activity, tampering with records, forgery and money laundering.

Jackson wasn't supposed to leave Ohio as part of the judge's order, but that didn't stop him from going to a basketball camp in New Jersey with James.

Later this week, a Summit County judge will consider revoking Jackson's bond.

James' mother, Gloria James, has described Jackson as LeBron's father, saying the boy's biological father has never been involved in his life.

LeBron, Ohio's Mr. Basketball the past two years, has been on the cover of Sports Illustrated, which dubbed the 18-year-old "The Chosen One" (magazine cover pictured, above).

He will be a senior this fall at Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary High School and is expected to be a top NBA draft pick if he decides to skip college and turn pro.
