CLEVELAND (AP) - Reliever David Riske, who appeared in 33 games for Cleveland before getting hurt, was activated Wednesday by the Indians, who optioned Dave Elder to Triple-A Buffalo.
Riske went on the 15-day disabled list on June 19 with lower back soreness along with a hamstring strain. Before going on the DL, he went 1-2 with a 5.86 ERA and one save.
The right-hander was fourth in the AL in games when he had to go on the DL for the fourth time in his career. In 2000, the 25-year-old had back and shoulder surgery.
Elder, a right-hander, was brought up from Buffalo on Monday but did not appear in a game with the Indians.
