Indians Promote Sadler To Fill Bullpen Void

CLEVELAND (AP) - The Cleveland Indians recalled left-handed reliever Carl Sadler from Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday to fill the bullpen spot opened up by the trade of Ricardo Rincon to Oakland.

Rincon, a left-hander, was dealt to the Athletics for minor league utilityman Marshall McDougall on Tuesday night.

Sadler, 25, is making his first trip to the majors. He went 4-1 with two saves and a 2.33 ERA in 21 relief appearances for Double-A Akron before moving up to Buffalo in June. In 12 games with the Bisons, he was 1-1 with a save and 1.93 ERA in 18 2/3 innings.

Sadler will be the 23rd pitcher used by the Indians this year, one fewer than last season.
