CLEVELAND (AP) - The Cleveland Indians activated third baseman Travis Fryman from the 15-day disabled list Thursday and optioned rookie Ben Broussard to Triple-A Buffalo.
Fryman had been out since July 17 with inflammation in his right shoulder -- the same one that required surgery in the offseason.
He had struggled most of the season -- hitting .226 with eight home runs and 39 RBIs in 82 games -- but had started to come on just before the injury. He was 21-for-71 (.296) in 22 games before the shoulder problem.
In his first trip to the major leagues, Broussard hit .234 with three homers and seven RBIs in 31 games while making the transition from first base to left field.
