Day-Care Director Accused Of Abusing Children Gets Light Sentence

CLEVELAND – Already angry parents flew into a rage on Thursday when a judge sentenced a day-care director to just probation for allegedly abusing children, Action News reported.

"My son is suffering, every night he screams and screams," one parent yelled in court.

Parents were upset because the sentence for 27-year-old Lisa DeMichele was void of any jail time. DeMichele was accused of abusing children at the Cleveland Child Care Center.

Many angry parents spoke at Thursday's sentencing, accusing the former director of the center of locking their children in closets and leaving them alone for hours. Many of those same parents screamed in the courtroom when they found out that DeMichele wouldn't be going to jail.

She was sentenced by the judge to just six months of house arrest and five years of probation.
