Saddam: Anyone who attacks Iraq will fail

Baghdad, Iraq-AP -- Saddam Hussein has a new warning for anyone who tries to attack Iraq.

He says they would die in what he calls a "disgraceful failure."

The Iraqi leader spoke to his nation today on the 14th anniversary of the end of the eight-year war between Iraq and Iran.

Saddam says his country won that war and will defeat "the forces of evil" if attacked again.

He made no direct mention of U-S and British demands for the return of U-N weapons inspectors to Iraq.

The U-S is considering launching an attack against the Arab nation, but the White House says other options are also being weighed.

Saddam says U-N sanctions should be lifted because Iraq has met requirements to eliminate weapons of mass destruction.
