BROOKLYN, Ohio – A gruesome discovery was made on Wednesday when a woman's body was found in the trunk of a car outside of the Super Kmart on Brookpark Road in Brooklyn, Action News' Paul Orlousky reported.
Among the questions that authorities are still trying to answer include: the woman's identity, whether she was killed at the store or just dumped there and how long she had been dead when she was discovered.
As the sun came up on Wednesday, things appeared normal here at the Kmart. Workers opened for the day, picked up shopping carts and unlocked outdoor merchandise.
The arrival of police detectives, however, was a sure sign that something was wrong.
Detectives said it's unlikely that they learned much from interviewing workers, but a key to the case might just be hanging on the side of the store -- surveillance cameras. The hope is that they might have recorded something unusual going on in the lot or possibly even captured an image of whoever dropped off the car with the woman's body inside.
Kmart shoppers, meanwhile, said that they were shocked by the discovery.
"It's a very, very serious matter and it takes more vigilance on everyone's part to make sure things like that don't happen," concerned shopper Lucy Umek said. "It's very upsetting."
"It's pretty nasty, actually," shopper John Bond said. "I don't know what to say about it. It kind of makes you wonder what's going on."
Police have not yet released a description of the victim or her identity.
